The Faithful Companion
I was originally inspired to do this as a commission from a breeder of hearing aide dogs commemorating the passing of a Corgi/Manchester mix she bred, trained, and sold to a dear friend years before. Unfortunately, as I finished this piece, she became ill went to hospital... I didn't hear from her for three years, only to find out she had complications that led to memory loss and it took her that long to remember it existed and that she still had plans for it! |
Eternalovers
Eternalovers was originally inspired by my long hair I vainly loved at the time, lol, which gave me the idea to do intertwining lovers in a sexually ambiguious fashion, so you can't really tell gender but for one semi-hidden feature in the whole piece. It's a statement of love, and blurring the distinctions so we can see each other as just human. |
My Ideal Woman
Carved in 1998, I was still a new carver with new shiny tools and decided to do my first female nude with all the physical attributes I found most beautiful and sensual to touch, so this is what I produced. I still have her to this day, though she's bee through a lot and unfortunately was the piece I learned how to do repairs with, and din't make it through the process, but as I write this now in 2013, I feel inspired to do a proper repair and restore her when I have some time. |
